LDAP & Active Directory Integration

The Web Help Desk web-based software may be configured to use multiple Microsoft Active Directory or LDAP directories as a source for client and customer account data. To optimise performance, the Web Help Desk downloads client data from the LDAP / MS AD directory to the Web Help Desk database. Scheduling the Web Help Desk LDAP / Active Directory synchronisation to the interval of your choice ensures that any changes to LDAP / AD data will be reflected in the Web Help Desk software.

Along with importing basic client and customer information, the LDAP / AD synchronisation can also be configured to map other values stored in your directory into Web Help Desk. Other valuable information entries might include Location and Department. The Location and Department informational data is critical to the Web Help Desk Automatic Ticket Assignment Logic. Other organisation-specific informational data may be mapped to Web Help Desk custom fields.

Our help desk software's LDAP / AD synchronisation does not import any passwords into the Web Help Desk database, so your directory must store password information if you want to use it with the Web Help Desk. To authenticate your clients and customers during login, the application performs an LDAP / AD bind with your directory, passing the user supplied password as a part of the bind.

LDAP / AD synchronisations may be scheduled at frequencies of down to one minute intervals or simply click the "Sync Now" button within Web Help Desk to execute an on-demand LDAP / Active Directory synchronisation.
